We were visited by
Author, Musician, Singer/Songwriter,
Actor Daryl Cobb!
The presentation included singing, story-telling, and interactive
activities with the students. Here are some highlights from the
show:
-Mr. Cobb discussed how every story starts in the same place --
with an IDEA! He read his book "Daddy, Did I ever Say?" to
demonstrate how a story develops from an idea.
-He created and sang a song "I'm Lovin' it Here at Hopewell
School" with the students!
-Mr. Cobb discussed themes in his stories, and what the
process is like for creating a book from start to finish. He even
showed what his "sloppy copies" look like!
-To demonstrate conflict within stories and how to add details in
writing, Mr. Cobb called upon student volunteers to help write
and act out a story.
-The program ended with the students asking Mr. Cobb their
own questions such as "What are your favorite books?" and
"How old were you when you started writing?"
-Finally, students also presented Mr. Cobb with a huge,
handmade birthday banner!
It was a great experience for Hopewell Elementary!
